Why I'm Supporting Obama

I've been pretty quiet in this here blogosphere over the past 4 or 5 months, but today, on this Super-Duper-Fat-Tuesday, I've decided to end my self-imposed blog-exile and speak out in support of the candidate who I would vote for if I currently lived in one of the Super Tuesday States (I live in PA).

Now, in case you don't know me, I was very hopeful that Al Gore would jump in the race, as he had the boldest positions on the issues that matter most to me (the Environment, Health Care, media reform, getting money out of politics, defending "reason", etc). When it became apparent that Gore wasn't going to jump in, I decided I'd vote for Edwards, given that he campaigned on a populist message that included fighting corporations, lifting up the poor, and other issues that weren't far from Gore's positions.

But, now that we're left with only two candidates, I have decided to join the cult, er campaign, to support Barack Obama. Here are a few reasons why I'm supporting Obama, and I hope you'll agree that these reasons are so strong that you too will have no choice but to bow down to, er support, Obama:

I'm sure I'm leaving out some important reasons to support our liberal savior, so maybe you could help me out: why do you support Barack Obama?

I don't care what your reasons are, as long as we have your vote.  Thank you, sir!

Personally, I support him because he is so damn good looking.

Damn it! (none / 0)

I forgot that one. I also was going to mention that I saw the light emanating from his rear, but I didn't want to gush too much...

Re: Why I'm Supporting Obama (none / 0)

I just voted this morning (NJ) and it was wonderful pulling the lever for Hillary Clinton.  Thanks for posting this blog and reminding me that I made the right decision.

Does Hillary Clinton eat babies, and if so... (none / 0)

is it because she's racist or an anti-semite?

And in related news, Obama loves Kittens and so does America!

News at 11...

Re: because he can win (none / 0)

It is beyond being naive to believe that so-called independent and "moderate" republicans would vote for Obama in the GE.

I am not saying Hillary will not be attacked by Republicans. But at least with Hillary we have principles to hold on and fight back. With Obama? Who is he? A pseudo-Democrat who is ashamed of being a Democrat, a psedo-uniter who actually divides his own party and a psedo-progressive who does not even agree on basic progressive principles. Give me a break. He will be crushed in a couple of weeks with Republicans attacks on his "magical" personality.

Re: Why I'm Supporting Clinton. (none / 0)

because her support of a pre-emptive war that was fought to secure america has resulted in 4000 dead american soldiers, 75,000 wounded, est.costs ultimatly of 2.5 trillion+.

because she voted for that war without bothering to take the time to read the Classified NIE.

because she voted against the Levin amendment that would have forced bush to come back to congress after the UN rejected his invasion.

because she voted against restricting the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas where the little bomblets/tennis balls are picked up by children and blow them up.

because she vote for the kyle/lieberman resolution that would allow bush to structure our forces in iraq for the expressed purpose of blunting iranians in Iraq ..endless occupation, in other words.

because she voted for the bankruptcy bill but hoped it would fail.

because she led the senate since 02 with 2.5 billion in earmarks..going to military vendors and others with no-bid contracts...and was repaid by getting mega contribuitons from those contractors for her campaign.

There are so many more..no time to list..all the reasons to vote for Hillary Clinton.
